Frequently Asked Questions about the Payment Plan

Q How does the Automatic Bill Payment Plan work?
A Mail your completed enrollment form with a voided check or a deposit slip. We will withdraw your payment automatically on the due date. Allow 30-60 days for automatic bill payments to become effective.
Q How will I know the amount of my bill?
A We will send your bill as scheduled. Continue to pay what you normally would until your bill has "Automatic Payment Plan" marked on it. Your payment will be itemized on your checking or savings account statement.
Q What if I have a question concerning the amount of my bill?
A Simply telephone or stop by our office as soon as you receive your bill. We will see that the bank will not make any deduction until your questions have been satisfactorily answered.
Q What happens if there is not enough money in my bank account?
A By the time you receive your bill and before the due date should give you enough time to deposit the money. Otherwise, as in any situation your bank will notify you of insufficient funds.
Q If I receive more than one utility bill from the City of South Haven, will the bank pay them all automatically?
A Yes, you can use one form and list all of the account numbers as long as the name on the bills are all the same.
Q What if I need to make a change?
A If you change your checking/savings account, a new enrollment form will be required, plus the 30-60 day waiting period. If you decide to cancel, simply put it in writing.
Q What If I move?
A If you will be receiving service from the City of South Haven at your new residence, you may continue the Plan. However, you will need to sign a new authorization form with your new customer account number. The waiting period does not apply.
