What are the Water/Sewer Capital Improvement and Ready to Serve Charges for?
These are flat charges based on the size of your meter. These charges are placed on all water/sewer bills whether the meter is on or off. The "Ready to Serve" charges are used to pay for the maintenance and upkeep of the transmission lines. The Capital Improvement fees go to pay for major infrastructure expenditures at the water and sewer plants.

What is the fuel adjustment charge for?
The fee is a pass through of fuel charges from American Electric Power (AEP), our power supplier, and based on each customer's monthly usage of electric. This figure fluctuates based on the price of coal and the availability of AEP's nuclear reactors to meet the City of South Haven's demand for power.

What is the Twp Water/Sewer Debt Service Charge?
This is exactly as it sounds. The township has set a flat fee to cover any existing Water and Sewer Debt.

Why does my bill show penalties before it is even due?
If your bill shows a penalty, it is for the previous month's bill. If you paid the amount due after due date, you should have a credit balance in the amount of the penalties on the Previous Balance line of your bill.

I have mailed my payment on time but I received a Reminder Notice.
Reminder notices are mailed out the day after your bill is due, and since we accept post marks for payments, they will occasionally cross in the mail. If you call, we can let you know if we received the payment.
